About Us

our history

New Life Christian Academy began as a ministry of New Life Christian Center (NLCC). In 1988, Pastor Dr. LaSalle R. Vaughn met with the Board of Directors and shared a clear directive from the Lord: “It’s time to start a school.” The Academy, like the church itself, was founded as an act of obedience to God, not by human ambition, but by divine instruction.

Dr. Vaughn firmly believed that when God calls you to do something, He will also provide everything necessary to accomplish it. At the time, the church and school were established in a depressed area of town. Many questioned whether a ministry in that location would survive, and several well-established local ministry leaders expressed skepticism. Despite criticism and doubt, Dr. Vaughn remained steadfast in obedience to God’s call.

His vision for the Academy was clear: to provide a place where God’s people could receive a quality, Christ-centered education at an affordable price. From its beginning, the Academy has operated under the direction and guidance of God. Its growth and development have been marked by consistent steps of faith.

The school began in one room at NLCC with 36 students enrolled in kindergarten through fifth grade. Dr. Vaughn, his wife, and several committed church members worked faithfully to fulfill God’s calling to educate His children. Each year, an additional grade level was added until the Academy expanded to include twelfth grade.

In 1992, the church moved into a new building, allowing the school to expand into four classrooms. During this season of growth, the Academy introduced music and computer programs. By its fifth year, an athletic program was added. By 1993, student enrollment had increased to 96 students.

Continued growth led to the construction of a separate school facility in 1994. The new building was completed and occupied in January 1995. This expanded campus included a gymnasium, 20 classrooms, a weight room, music and computer rooms, a home economics room, administrative and seminary offices, a conference/lecture room, a teacher’s lounge, a nurse’s station, and a full kitchen.

In 2015, New Life Christian Academy transitioned from a traditional classroom model to an on-campus Hybrid setting. Middle and high school students began accessing select courses strictly online through Alpha-Omega Publications, while other courses continued in traditional textbook and lecture formats. Some classes operate as a blended model, combining online instruction with in-person teaching.

Throughout every season, New Life Christian Academy has remained rooted in its founding mission: obedience to God, commitment to excellence, and dedication to equipping students spiritually, academically, and socially for their future.

our Family

At New Life Christian Academy Hybrid (NLCAH), we are more than a school, we are a family.

Located in San Antonio, NLCAH is a Christ-centered, accredited PK–12 academy where faith and learning walk hand in hand. Everything we do flows from our commitment to honor God, serve families, and equip students to live boldly for Christ.

With a 8:1 student-to-teacher ratio, our classrooms are intentionally small so that every child is known by name, loved deeply, and challenged to grow. Our degreed and experienced teachers invest not only in academics, but in the hearts and futures of our students.

We believe education is discipleship.

Through daily prayer, chapel, Biblical integration across all subjects, and intentional mentorship, we guide students in developing a strong Christian worldview. Our desire is not only to prepare students for college, but to prepare them for life, leadership, and eternity.

Our academic program includes:

  • College-preparatory curriculum
  • Dual credit opportunities
  • 100% graduation rate
  • 100% of graduates who apply, accepted into 4-year universities
  • Individualized academic support
  • A hybrid model designed to prepare students to be independent learners: online and in the classroom

We pursue excellence because we serve an excellent God.

At NLCAH, students are surrounded by encouragement, accountability, and genuine care. We intentionally cultivate:

  • Christ-like leadership
  • Integrity and responsibility
  • Servant hearts
  • Academic diligence
  • A culture of honor and joy

Parents are not spectators here, they are partners. We welcome our families to remain actively involved in their child’s education while being supported by a committed and faith-filled staff.

Our mission is simple and powerful:
To nurture the whole child in Christ, spiritually, mentally, and physically so they may shine the light of Christ wherever God calls them.

At New Life Christian Academy Hybrid, we are raising confident learners, compassionate leaders, and courageous believers.

We would be honored to walk alongside your family.
